FAQ

  • Do I need a reservation to rent gear?
  • No.  You may come directly in-store, however, classes take priority with new divers just learning receiving the highest priority.  Scheduling a rental allows us to let you know ahead of time if availability might be an issue & to reserve items for when you need them.

  • I need it for a weekend but you're not open early/late enough for pick up/return?
  • We don't charge you for needing to pick up a day early or drop off a day later.  This isn't Enterprise Car Rental.  Just ask.

  • What if my schedule requires me to pick up/return more than an extra day?
  • Just ask.  We want to help you out as best we can.

  • What if I rent items & return them late?
  • If you asked & we said yes, nothing.
  • If you treated this like a video from Blockbuster in the 90s:
    • Lessee (that's you) agrees to automatically pay a late fee of $25 per day until all items are returned.

  • What if I return them really late or not at all?
  • After a period of 10 days past the date due, Lessee (still you) authorizes Cincy SCUBA (that's us) to charge any available payment method for the full retail value of any item not returned.
  • Lessee acknowledges that failure to return rented gear is theft.
    • Lessee understands that law enforcement will be called to reclaim any stolen property in Lessee's possession.
  • Lessee agrees to be responsible for any and all costs incurred to reclaim Cincy SCUBA property including court costs & attorney fees if applicable.
  • For the love of Poseidon, please do not do this.

  • I'm taking a class & need gear.  Do you include that?
  • Depends on the class.  The FAQ for each individual class lists out what gear you need to have at that level.  Please check.
  • In general, if you are enrolled in a class the use of a tank & weights is included, however, you may need to come in the store to pick items up as DOT regulations limit how much gear we can transport.

  • After my class can I give you my gear at the dive location for you to return to the shop for me?
  • No.  If you left the shop with it, you have to walk back in the shop with it.
  • We understand this can sometimes seem silly & we would love to help you out, however, the DOT places limitations on the amount of dive gear that can be transported.  They also require dive gear to be listed on a manifest for transport & our manifest cannot be changed last minute.

  • Do I need to clean it?
  • Yes.  We need the gear back clean & dry.  There is a $100 cleaning fee for anything you bring back gross.  Please don't.
  • Freshwater rinse & allow it to dry out of direct sunlight, please.

  • What if I break it?
  • Normal wear & tear is fine.  Leaving with a BCD that has no holes & returning it with holes is not.
  • Damage to rental gear will be billed on a case by case basis.
