Some brand new, never been wet, items show up occasionally too.
The collection changes often and items are available for pennies compared to their original value so check back often.

Bring it in, we will sort usable items from the pile, dispose of anything needed & add it to our training or salvage collection.
Wetsuits are a much appreciated item, condition does not matter, they are used in safety training as a realistic item to cut off in an emergency.

Consignment
Do you have gear collecting dust with no time or patience for eBay?
Our consignment program can move that gear out of storage & back in the water while putting a few dollars in your pocket.

FAQ
- How does the consignment program work?
- Bring your gear in, we will look through & give you a rough idea of what the used value is.
- We take possession of your gear. Photograph it & advertise it.
- When it sells, we split the proceeds of the sale less any shipping fees or other costs to us.
- Can I specify a minimum for what my consigned gear will be allowed to sell for?
- Yes, however, based on your minimum we may decline to accept it into consignment.
- Nobody has a better understanding of what your gear cost you when new than we do, but we also know what the market will support for used gear. If your request is likely not feasible then we may decline to accept it.
- Will you check with me prior to reducing price of my consignment item?
- No.
- If you have a minimum requirement, you must give us that information when we accept it in to consignment. Without a minimum, we reserve the right to price & sell the item at our sole discretion.
- What if my consignment item does not sell?
- We reduce item cost actively based on the evolving used gear market to try & net you something, however, sometimes nobody wants your treasure.
- It is still your treasure, after a period of time we may contact you to come pick the item up or allow us to otherwise dispose of it.
- Please note: If we contact you to retrieve your item and you do not retrieve it within 90 days of contact the item is deemed abandoned & we will dispose of it at our discretion.
- Can I come in the shop to see/purchase a Silbiger's Salvage item in person?
- Absolutely. Salvage items are stored, not displayed in the showroom, however, you are welcome to come see them in person. Just show us the item you are interested in & we will grab it out of storage for you.
- Pro Tip: If you give us a call before arrival it allows us the time needed to pull it from storage making your visit much more efficient.
- Do you buy used gear?
- Very, very, very rarely. We encourage you to call first before bringing everything in here.
- Usually, the only thing considered is usable lead & sometimes tanks, provided we can be reasonably certain they will pass operational standards.
- If you have a large lot (like from the estate of a diving enthusiast) we are open to discussing it as an acquisition of the entire lot.
- Is all of the gear on Silbiger's Salvage ready to hit the water?
- No. Absolutely NOT.
- Many items may require service prior to their use as life support equipment.
- Some items may even be non-operational but available as a source of discontinued parts.
- Please read the descriptions of items carefully & always have gear serviced by a certified dive facility prior to use.
- I spent a ton on this gear back in 1992, why is it not worth what I paid?
- I hate to break it to you, but that was more than 30 years ago. Ask yourself when you were buying your gear in 1992 if you would have paid the same amount you did for gear that was produced in the 1960s.
- Side Note: sorry if that made you feel old reading that, doing the math made us feel old typing it.
- What about wet suits, can I get a good return on those?
- Likely no. We rarely even accept them in to consignment. We can't figure out why, but it seems people are not keen on buying a used item someone else may have peed in... Go figure.
- Please consider donating used wetsuits.
- Our rescue students as well as our staff go through extensive training. Access to discarded wetsuits allows us to add a realistic element to training by cutting them off of a simulated victim. This training enhancement is invaluable & your donation will directly impact the level of training we can provide.
