Gas Fills

Requirements

  • All tanks must have current hydrostatic testing
  • All scuba tanks must have current visual inspection
  • All 100% Oxygen bottles must be O2 cleaned
  • For safety, we reserve the right to refuse to fill any tank at our sole discretion.  See FAQ for details.

Leave the tank in your car

Our shop is the only SCUBA shop in the Tri-State area that offers drive up service for air fills.  No need to lug your tank inside.  We are happy to pass gas inside your car if you choose.

  1. Park in one of the convenient options indicated on the map.  Leave your tank(s) in the car.
  2. Come inside the shop & purchase your air fill (and hopefully lots more gear, you know you want it)
  3. We will direct you back to our drive up fill station (marked by the tank on the map off the alley in the back of our shop).
  4. You may either pull your tanks out of the vehicle, or pull the vehicle close and we will fill them where they are (filling in vehicle is at your own risk).

Nitrox

Diving with Nitrox can increase the margin of safety for every diver but getting a fill in Greater Cincinnati can be a pain in the gas.

Partial pressure blending, used by many local dive shops, requires your tank to be O2 cleaned, an added expense for divers.

Our investment in a Nitrox blending stick now allows us to customize your gas mixture from 21% to 36% without the requirement for your equipment to undergo O2 cleaning.

appointment & Nitrox Certification required

100% Oxygen

Our USUN Booster allows us to boost 100% oxygen into your deco, first aid or rebreather bottles up to 3442psi.

Obviously this requires compatible cylinders & O2 cleaning but if you need O2 at 3442psi, you already know that.

appointment & O2 card required

FAQ

  • So you'll fill my tank no matter what?
  • No.  For safety, we reserve the right to refuse to fill any tank at our sole discretion.
    • New tanks (purchased from an online vendor) will require a visual inspection performed by us before filling
    • Damaged tanks (like your fiberglass paintball tank) commonly have to be turned away for safety

  • Do I need an appointment for tank filling?
  • Maybe.  Depends on what you need:
    • Air Fills:
      • You don't need an appointment.  Any of our retail staff can assist you with an airfill.  Double check those hydro and vis dates and head on in.  If you need a paintball airfill, we have a great amount of adapters and extensive experieice with multiple fill systems, however, if your unit came with any filling adapters please bring those with you.
    • Special Gas Fills:
      • You DO need an appointment for Nitrox and beyond.  Making an appointment ensures a technician with experience in blending is available for you.
      • It also allows us to ensure we have enough cuFT at an acceptable pressure available onsite.
      • You are always welcome to drop your tank off without an appointment and let us know your blend request and we will fill it and let you know when it is available for pick up.

  • How long does it take?
  • Depends on the size of the cylinder and how busy we are.

  • How often is the breathing gas analyzed?
  • We use an independent lab in Texas called Air Check Lab by Trace Analytics.
  • Samples are collected monthly & sent for third party testing to ensure breathing gas quality.
  • Report results are available to view.

  • How often is the compressor serviced?
  • Often enough we should be charging more than $10 for an air fill.
  • We have a regular service schedule that includes replacements of 3 different filters including a molecular sieve as well as the in-take filter.
  • We have regular rebuilds of the coalescer, drain seats, drain baffles as well as valves 1, 2, 3 & 4
  • Oil levels are checked daily & oil receives a full charge just like your car.
  • Records are available to view.

  • Can I fill my own tank?
  • Sure.  I think SMACO makes a bicycle pump you can use, you should be able to pick one up on Amazon.
  • If you mean using our compressor, No.  Our staff is specially trained on compressor usage.

  • Can I watch?
  • No.  For safety reasons we require you outside the shop while tanks are being filled.

  • The tank you filled lost some pressure by the time I got home, can I have a refund?
  • Call your high school science teacher & ask them for the refund because they failed to teach you thermodynamics.
  • Compressing a gas causes it to heat up.  As it cools back down to ambient temperature the pressure drops.  This is science, not a reason for you to ask for a manager.

  • Do I need to analyze my own Nitrox?
  • Yes.  We will fill it to your requested mixture between 21% & 36% (+/- 1%), however, the responsibility for what is actually in the tank belongs to you.
  • We have an analyzer you may borrow or you may use your own.
