Any course, tailored to you
Any of our courses, from learning to dive in confined water class, showing off your skills in Open Water Check Outs or a Continuing Education Course can be structured to meet your personal needs.
How it works
Contact the dive shop, we will pair you with an instructor who will work directly with you to understand your personal & scheduling needs.
Once dates & details are established a custom course will be created tailored specifically to you.
What it costs
Whatever the cost of the course you are interested in taking, the Bespoke Class Upgrade costs that amount additional.
In short, you pay the equivalent of one extra student.
Examples
- A couple needs a Refresher prior to their vacation to Fiji but none are available before they leave.
- They pay for a total of 3 students & the class is created.
- A family of 4 wants private education for a Confined Water Class.
- They pay for a total of 5 students & the class is created.
- A single diver needs Open Water Check Outs done on a weekend we have none scheduled.
- The diver pays for 2 students & the class is created.
- A group of 3 friends wants Try SCUBA together but have difficult schedules.
- The group pays for 4 students & the class is created.
FAQ
- Do I have to buy all the gear?
- The rules apply to the individual courses still apply. Check the FAQ for the course you are interested in to see what gear is or is not included.
- I have a large group & we all want to do this together, can we?
- Yes, you absolutely can. Additionally, any group of 6 or more paid students can have the Bespoke Class Upgrade at no additional cost.
- Examples:
- A Boy Scout Troop of 7 wants to Try SCUBA together.
- They contact the shop & a custom course is created.
- There is no charge for the Bespoke Class Upgrade
- They contact the shop & a custom course is created.
- A family of 8 wants to take Confined Water Class together.

- So can we pick any time on any day for the individual course sessions?
- No. Our instructors need their beauty sleep so we can't agree to any time of day. Additionally, there are restrictions on pool availability that can limit days & times for in water training.
- While our typical courses have pool availability on Sunday mornings we do have alternate times and days available, however, they require special coordination with the facilities.
- I have a pool, can we do it at my house?
- Sometimes. Backyard pools don't always give us the depth and space required, but we have done it before. Typically we need 10' deep but we have worked with 8' before. Reach out and we can discuss specifics.
- Keep in mind, this makes the classes weather dependent (unless you are rocking an indoor pool). Costs may be incurred for the addition of extra pool sessions if weather interrupts a scheduled class.
- So during the in water sessions, will we have the water to ourselves?
- No. There may be swimmers swimming laps or another public course taking place at the same time. What you will have is your instructor dedicated specifically to your group.
- We do our best to accommodate anyone with special needs. If you have sensory needs that may require exclusivity in the water please reach out. We are happy to speak with our partner facilities about making special arrangements if possible.
- I'm rich & I want private instruction at a remote destination, can we do that?
- Congratulations, your parents must be very proud. While the example seems extreme, this has actually happened before. New divers wanted their Open Water Check Out Dives performed somewhere warm & sunny so our instructor met them at Lunken Airport, boarded their private plane & joined them at a sunny locale to perform their check out dives.
- So yeah, we do that too. If you are rocking the American Express black card & are willing to fly our staff to a gorgeous destination to teach you to dive, we will make the sacrifices necessary to accommodate you in paradise. Just contact the shop.
- One of our group members is a pain to coordinate with, can you handle that?
- No, if you hate coordinating schedules with them odds are we will too.
- When coordinating schedules to create the class we require a single point of contact for the group to communicate with. That point of contact coordinates the group's scheduling needs directly with our staff.
Reschedule/Cancellation Policy
Life happens, we get it & we want to find a way to get you diving.
- Your schedule changed
- Ours does too sometimes. We get it. You may reschedule to an alternate class anytime without an additional charge 14 days prior to the start of the class. Within 14 days, there is a $35 fee to reschedule.
- You need to cancel
- You changed your mind, doctor doesn't think it's a good idea, whatever. It's ok. You may cancel any course (in writing please) for a full refund 14 days prior to the start of the course (this is why we advise you do that questionnaire early). Please understand that space is limited in our courses, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations within 14 days of the original course start.
- Please note: codes issued from the training agencies cannot be refunded once you have begun the e-learning regardless of when you cancel. If you begin the e-learning any refund will be less the cost of the e-learning.
- Somebody got sick
- We get sick sometimes too. No problem. If you wake up with the plague we prefer you do not come to scuba class. A big part of the education is teaching you how to take the thing in our mouth and put it in your mouth if there is an emergency & we don't want the plague. We will work with you to move you to a future class at no charge. We do, however, reserve the right to assess a charge if we find this policy is being abused. Please don't do that.
- You ignore safety instructions
- Safety is our paramount concern. Your safety, other student's safety & our staff's safety. You are required to follow established safety requirements & follow the instructions of our staff. Violations of safety procedures may result in removal from class without a refund. Just don't do it.
- You ignored requirements
- Come on, really? Showing up for scuba class without a swim suit does not entitle you to a free reschedule. We honestly can't believe we have to type this but yes, it happened.
