Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Gilboa has great camping & RV facilities, however, after a long day of diving we prefer a soft bed & a warm shower. We travel the 20 minutes back to Findlay Ohio where there are multiple hotel options. Our personal favorite is the Drury Inn & Suites. Consistently clean & economical, with an included happy hour, this hotel is also within walking distance of our favorite dinner destination; Ralphies, where I swear to god, they serve "chunks". Ralphies Chunks. You can't make this up.
You're a diver now. When you are not underwater, you are signing a waiver. That is just how it works. Fortunately, Gilboa has an online waiver system, so check their website and fill the thing out. They require a new waiver every year, so if you haven't been there this calendar year, you owe them a new one.
They took the time to place up to date information on their website, so check there for their current pricing.
Yes. They love that we bring you there but you do need to purchase admission for the days we will be there. You will also need to purchase air fills so you can have your cylinder(s) refilled during class. You do NOT need to fill them again before returning them to us, but you will need more gas while you are there. Check with your instructor for details.
Absolutely. A 7mm wetsuit is required. We have them available for rent, check our gear section. As far as a hood and gloves, that is a personal decision. We schedule our Check Out Dives for later in the season where the thermocline tends to sit below the training platforms, but we can't answer that question for you.
Up to you. You are welcome to, recently there has been a food truck onsite, but better safe than sorry. It's a 20 minute drive to grab takeout & there is not time during surface intervals to leave & return. What you absolutely need is fluids. Bring water to drink. Lots of water.
Not thirsty? Don't care. Drink water.
Remember, there are only two types of divers:
We really can't believe we need to write this one, but it actually happened.
Alcohol & diving do not mix. You first drink is after your last dive. We don't screw around with this.
We had a student once who cracked a beer in the middle of check out dives & took a sip, just a sip, before the instructor could stop him. He was not permitted to continue.
If you think you can sneak off to your car during class & tie one on; we are going to know. If we think you have been drinking we are not letting you in the water.
Now, once class is over & we are out to dinner, we will drink one with you. Just wait till then.
